Sayre, OK — A routine traffic stop in Sayre led to the arrest of a man on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including possession of a sawed-off rifle, methamphetamine, and marijuana.
Authorities say a blue Chevy Silverado was pulled over for a broken third brake light just before 9:20 p.m. Friday. The vehicle was reportedly emitting a strong odor of marijuana, prompting further investigation.
Inside the vehicle, law enforcement observed what appeared to be a short-barreled AR-style rifle partially covered by clothing in the back seat. The driver, 24-year-old Gaylon Kade James Theriac, admitted to having a medical marijuana card and claimed the vehicle was given to him by his mother. He also stated he had traded a house for the firearm, which measured just over 24 inches and did not have a tax stamp as required by law.
The passenger, identified as Nicole Lynn Gillespie, was found to have active warrants and was taken into custody. A search of the vehicle turned up marijuana, methamphetamine, multiple used syringes, a loaded syringe, and drug paraphernalia commonly associated with meth use.
Theriac was arrested and booked on the following charges:

Failure to maintain insurance or security
Bond for Theriac was set at $12,000. Gillespie was also transported to jail on her outstanding warrants.
All evidence was packaged and stored. Both individuals were booked without incident.
