A semi and train collision in Kiowa County near Snyder has sent a man to the hospital.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol the crash occurred Tuesday afternoon when the semi was headed south on State Highway 54 when it struck the train headed west.

Cause of the accident is still undetermined and the incident is still under investigation by the OHP.

Officials did say that the driver of the semi, who’s name was not released, was transported to Comanche County Memorial Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

According to a report from KSWO-TV, it took the train seven miles to come to a stop, coming to rest about two miles west of Snyder. OHP, the Kiowa County Sheriff’s Department and the Snyder Fire Department all responded to the accident.

In other traffic news: another accident in Blaine County appears to be caused by another DUI.

According to the OHP the one vehicle accident occurred near Hitchcock on a county road when the 2018 Ford F-350 driven by 31-year-old Heath Aaron Kennedy of Watonga departed the roadway at a high rate of speed and struck an embankment. Kennedy was admitted to Mercy Hospital in Watonga with head and leg injuries.

OHP noted that Kennedy had an odor of alcoholic beverage and listed the cause of the collision being DUI.
