State Budget Talks Continue – Moore Weighs In

Budget discussions continue at the state capitol between house and senate leaders along with Governor Kevin Stitt.

District 57 Representative Anthony Moore says the process has been slowed down with turnover taking place in the senate, along with disagreements on potential tax cuts.

Governor Stitt has been firm on his budget stance where he is wanting to maintain a large savings account with nearly $5 billion, along with prioritizing conservative spending and keeping expenses below revenue. Lastly he wants to see a quarter of a point income tax cut – a topic lawmakers, at the moment, can not come to terms on.

An agreed budget must be ready by the end of the month, however Rep. Moore feels that date won’t be met, which sets the stage for yet another special session.
