Southwestern
Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) recently hosted Oklahoma
legislative leaders Senator Chuck Hall (Perry – District 20);
Senator Darcy Jech (Kingfisher – District 26); Representative Trey
Caldwell (Lawton – District 63); and Representative Anthony Moore
(Clinton – District 57) for a visit at SWOSU’s main location in
Weatherford.
In
the Senate, Hall serves as Chairman of the Committee on
Appropriations & Budget and Jech serves as Chairman of the
Committee on Public Safety.
In
the House, Caldwell serves as Chairman of the Committee on
Appropriations & Budget and Moore serves as Chairman of the
Committee on Higher Education & Career Technology.
During
their visits to SWOSU, Hall, Jech, Caldwell, and Moore were briefed
by SWOSU President Dr. Diana R. Lovell regarding SWOSU’s aerospace
and defense workforce development initiatives along with the
institution’s extensive course offerings in critical healthcare
occupations. The legislators were also given a tour of the
construction site for SWOSU’s Jerry & Margaret Hodge Center for
Pharmacy & Rural Health (Hodge Center) by SWOSU Vice President
for Administration & Finance Ms. Lori Boyd and SWOSU Provost &
Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Joel Kendall. Additional
briefings were provided regarding SWOSU’s utilization of deferred
maintenance funding and of the institution’s growing concurrent
enrollment program.

much of what we are able to do at SWOSU is attributable to the
substantial and steadfast support we receive from legislative
champions like Senators Hall and Jech and Representatives Caldwell
and Moore,” said Lovell. “We were delighted to welcome these
outstanding leaders to the SWOSU Hilltop and we sincerely thank them
for their continued involvement in our efforts to deliver an
accessible, affordable program of instruction and training to
Oklahomans.”
