On
Monday, November 25, five pleas were heard in the 100th Judicial
District Court. Among those cases, two individuals from Mobeetie and
Wellington faced sentencing for felony offenses.
Luke
Inman, District Attorney for the 100th Judicial District, and
Assistant District Attorney Harley Caudle prosecuted the cases on
behalf of the State of Texas. The Honorable Judge Stuart Messer
presided over the hearings by assignment.
Edward
Allen Reeves, 33, of Mobeetie, Texas, received a 10-year prison
sentence for a second-degree felony offense of burglary of a
habitation. The crime occurred in Hall County on May 25, 2021.
Reeves
had previously been placed on probation on April 27, 2022. However,
the State filed a motion on June 21, 2023, to adjudicate his
probation, citing eight violations of its conditions. Reeves pleaded
true to the allegations. In addition to the prison term, he was
ordered to pay a $500 fine and $355 in court costs.
Leticia
Michelle Garcia, 43, of Wellington, Texas, was sentenced to five
years in prison for a third-degree felony offense of possession of a
controlled substance. The offense occurred in Collingsworth County on
January 25, 2022.
Garcia
had been placed on probation on September 21, 2023. However, on March
12, the State filed a motion alleging eight violations of her
probation conditions. Garcia also pleaded true to the allegations.
She was ordered to pay a $500 fine and $376 in court costs.
Both
cases highlight the State’s commitment to prosecuting probation
violations and ensuring accountability for felony offenses in the
100th Judicial District.
