An Elk City man was hospitalized after being involved in a two vehicle accident on the divergent diamond interchange overpass on S. Main in Elk City Thursday afternoon.

According to the accident report provided by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the accident occurred just before 1 p.m. Thursday when while towing a wheat drill northbound, the driver of a 2022 Ford F-150 came to a stop at the red light. However, the wheat drill jack knifed and pushed the pickup into the intersection where he was struck by a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu driven by 58-year-old Michael Lewis who had a green light.

As a result, OHP said Lewis was transported to Great Plains Regional Medical Center in Elk City before being transferred to an Oklahoma City hospital where he was admitted in good condition with head injuries.

The driver of the pickup was uninjured.
