Manslaughter charges were officially filed this week in Beckham County District Court against the man who was arrested on November 21 after being involved in the multi-fatal accident west of Elk City.

According to court records, 43-year-old Jose Paxtor Oxlaj of Los Angeles, California received six counts of first degree manslaughter charges and one count of causing an accident that produced great bodily injury without a valid drivers license after Troopers with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the 2015 Toyota Sienna he was driving was t-boned by a 2021 Ford F-250 while he attempted to clear the intersection of Route 66 and OK-34.

As a result, 6 passengers in the Sienna lost their lives, including two juveniles.

A 4-year-old female was last listed to be in critical condition.

A probable cause affidavit obtained by Paragon Communications showed that it was discovered that Oxlaj had allegedly picked up the passengers who were undocumented aliens in New York and was transporting them to Los Angeles for a fee.

The document stated that Oxlaj did not know any of the passengers.

Bond for Oxlaj was set at $50,000. His next court date is scheduled for December 11.
