Office of the 100th Judicial District Attorney (Texas) Press Release

Wellington – On Monday, November 17, one plea took place in the 100th Judicial District Court via the internet-based meeting app Zoom.

Luke Inman, the District Attorney for the 100th Judicial District, along with Assistant District Attorney Harley Caudle, prosecuted the case for the State of Texas, with the Honorable Judge Stuart Messer presiding.

Matthew Ryan Neeley, 34 from Wellington, Texas, was sentenced to 19 months in prison for the state jail felony offense of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Neeley was arrested on April 6, 2021 by Collingsworth County Deputy Jeff Arnold. Neeley was originally placed on three years probation on January 26.

The State filed a motion asking the Court to revoke Neeley’s probation on October 13, alleging four violations of community supervision. Neeley pleaded true to all violations.

While on felony probation, Neeley harassed the victim of the underlying charge, according to court documents.

One sure fire way of getting yourself thrown in prison is messing with the victim after you stole from them,” said Inman. “Sending defendants on state jail felony sentences is just as effective in cleaning up our neighborhoods as all other felony groups because the defendant usually has to serve day-for-day while in State Jail.”

Neeley was also ordered to pay the remaining $2,500 fine to Collingsworth County and $376 in court costs.
