The Arapaho Public Works Authority has secured a $285,000 loan from the Oklahoma Water Resources Board to upgrade its wastewater infrastructure. The loan comes with 100% principal forgiveness, meaning the authority won’t have to repay the amount. The project will be funded by the Oklahoma Clean Water State Revolving Fund, which helps finance improvements in wastewater systems across the state.

A system-wide evaluation of Arapaho’s wastewater network will now move forward, addressing inflow and infiltration issues. These upgrades are designed to reduce overflows and improve the efficiency of the wastewater treatment plant.

Lori Johnson, head of the OWRB’s Financial Assistance Division, estimates the project will save customers roughly $367,000 compared to traditional financing. OWRB Executive Director Julie Cunningham expressed appreciation for the support of State Senator Darcy Jech and State Representative Anthony Moore in securing the funding.

The Clean Water State Revolving Fund, administered by the OWRB with support from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, has provided nearly $2.7 billion in loans to help communities improve their water infrastructure. Since 1983, the OWRB has approved over $7.5 billion in funding for water and wastewater improvements across Oklahoma.
