ATV Accident Hospitalizes Elk City Man

An ATV accident on Saturday in Tillman County has hospitalized an Elk City man.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the accident took place just after 3 p.m. Saturday in a rural area 4 miles west of Manitou when 44-year-old Robert W. Carnes of Elk City rolled the ATV twice while attempting to climb a dune.

Troopers said Carnes and a passenger, 39-year-old Cody B. Rose of Roosevelt, were transported to Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton, before being transferred to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

The report stated that Carnes was admitted in stable condition with head and trunk injuries, while Rose was admitted in stable condition with trunk injuries.

OHP said both occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
