Local authorities are sharpening their skills when it comes to managing crisis events in schools.

Beckham County Sheriff Derek Manning says him along with other key staff members in the Sheriff’s Office will be attending a course called “Crisis Management for School Based Incidents for Key Decision Makers”.

Manning says the two day course will be attended by him along with an undersheriff and possibly two school resource officers. He says the course is being taught on the Elk City campus of Western Technology Center.
