Canute Man Dies While Changing Tire

A Canute man lost his life in Oklahoma County after a pick up on a jack fell on him while he was changing a tire on Friday night.

According to a report provided by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the accident occurred just before 7:30 p.m. on the shoulder of the westbound lanes of Interstate 40, 6 miles south of Choctaw when while changing the driver’s side rear tire off of a 2018 Ford F-350, the pickup slipped off the jack and fell onto 54-year-old Clayton Barton.

As a result, Troopers said Barton died on the scene due to injuries he sustained.

Troopers did say that a cause as to why the jack malfunctioned is sill under investigation.
