A welfare check led to kidnapping charges levied against a Clinton man earlier this month.

According to court records, 50-year-old Brennon Scott Stehr was arrested on January 16 when Clinton police were dispatched to a home in the 200 block of Regency Drive to a possible domestic disturbance taking place.

The probable cause affidavit stated that dispatch heard yelling, screaming, and someone mention the presence of a firearm.

When police arrived they reportedly heard the ongoing altercation inside and forced themselves through the front door, entering the home. There they found a female victim with what police would later report to have visible injuries on her body.

Police would locate Stehr in the kitchen area where they would arrest him a short time later.

The victim would later tell Police that the two had gotten into an argument that turned physical where Stehr would allegedly squeeze and bend the victim’s fingers, and drag her through the home by her hair.

After obtaining a search warrant, police would return to the home and find a handgun that the defendant had allegedly hid in a drawer in the kitchen, where he was arrested.

Along with the kidnapping charge, Stehr was also charged with domestic assault and battery and felon in possession of a firearm.

Initial bond for Stehr was set at $150,000.

His next court date is scheduled for March 1.
