Dr. Raygan Pierce Chain was named the Chair of the Department of Business at Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) earlier this semester.

Chain is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and the University of Oklahoma College of Law. After being admitted to the Oklahoma Bar, Chain joined an Oklahoma City law firm practicing mainly in the area of oil and gas title.

Chain joined the SWOSU faculty in 2015, where she teaches business law, real estate, business ethics, and various law-related classes. In addition to teaching, she has been involved in scholarly activities through research and presentations with both the Academy of Legal Studies in Business (ALSB), a national group, and its regional affiliate, the Southern Academy of Legal Studies in Business (SALSB).

Chain enjoys giving back to SWOSU and her community. She has served on the Connections Food & Resource Center Board and was a part of the team that established the SWOSU Bulldog Food & Resource. She is an active Rotarian with the Weatherford Rotary Club.

Chain was granted tenure and promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in 2020. She received the 2018 Brandy Award for Faculty Member of the Year and was the ACBSP Teaching Excellence Award Region 6 Recipient for 2020-2021.

Raygan and her husband, Doug, live in Weatherford with their 6th grader, Lucas, and their dog, Skye.
