Dr. Reem Atawia from SWOSU Honored with Early Career Educator Award

Dr. Reem Atawia from the Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) College of Pharmacy has recently been awarded the prestigious Early Career Educator Award during the 2024 American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET) meeting. This award recognizes Atawia’s significant contributions to pharmacology education and her innovative approaches in the field.

The ASPET is a scientific organization with 4,000 members who conduct basic and clinical pharmacological research. Their work contributes to the development of new medicines and therapeutic agents to fight current and emerging diseases.

During the ASPET meeting, Atawia served as a judge, evaluation groundbreaking research. She also served as a co-chair in the workshop, “Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Dynamic Pharmacology Education,” which addressed the rise of generative AI chatbots in healthcare and explored the benefits and challenges of using AI. In her presentation, “Optimizing Prompt Keywords for Pharm Education Excellence,” Atawia provided her insights and expertise on the innovative use of artificial intelligence in pharmacology education, engaging with peers on this transformative topic.
