An Elk City man was arrested and charged earlier this month after being accused of stealing firearms from an Elk City residence.

According to court records, 43-year-old Robert Leitz was charged on May 8 with, among other things, burglary in the second degree, and knowingly concealing stolen property in Beckham County Court after being arrested on May 3 for the supposed crimes.

A probable cause affidavit showed that the investigation into the case began after a home was reported to be burglarized on December 10, 2022. After viewing surveillance video, a witness was able to identify Leitz as the person who allegedly committed the crime.

A police warranted search of the home that Leitz and 31-year-old Desaray Irene Brunton were staying in would lead to the discovery of the stolen items along with narcotics on a nightstand in the master bedroom.

Due to the home also being occupied by a 7-year-old boy, both suspects were also charged with child neglect.

Bond for Brunton was set at $20,000 and $50,000 for Leitz.
