It was announced by Elk City Superintendent Mike Sparks that the school district has partnered with a food service management company that intends to serve fresh and nutritious meals throughout the district.

In a statement, Sparks said the district recently partnered with OPAA Food Service Management.

According to the company’s website, OPAA serves about 300,000 students in more than 900 schools. Headquartered in Chesterfield, Missouri, they manage K-12 school nutrition programs to more than two-thirds of Missouri and Kansas school districts that contract out their food service, as well as a growing number of districts in Arkansas, Nebraska, Illinois, Iowa, Indiana and Oklahoma.

Sparks said the first meals provided to Elk City students will begin on March 1.
