Elk City’s Parker Well Undergoing Changes

Restoration efforts continue at one of Elk City’s most famous attractions.

Elk City Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Susie Cupp says the Parker Rig No. 114 that welcomes travelers and locals alike on the east side of the city is in the process of being repainted. She says the goal for the 180 foot well, that was originally used to drill holes in Alaska and Nevada for experimental atomic bombs, is to have the entire structure painted from top to bottom. However she says funds are needed to continue the project, and donations are welcomed.

Cupp went on to say that the next project at the well is to install lights on the structure to illuminate it at night.

Cupp added that a local contractor was hired to paint the well.

Elk City’s Lincoln Teen Center Closing

Elk City, OK – Elk City’s non-profit hangout for teenagers will permanently close its doors Friday. Chuck Hargrove, President of LTC, inc., made the announcement today on Facebook. “It saddens me to post this! The Lincoln Teen
