Fatal Accident Near Clarendon, TX Under Investigation

A fatal two vehicle accident in the east Texas panhandle over the weekend remains under investigation.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident occurred in Donley County on US-287, three miles east of Clarendon just after 12:30 a.m. Sunday when a 2013 Dodge Ram driven by 32-year-old Humberto Martinez of Memphis, Texas left the roadway and struck a traffic sign.

The pickup then would return to the highway where it was struck by a 2013 Nissan Altima driven by 43-year-old Michael Flores of Memphis, Texas.

DPS officials said as a result, two passengers in the Altima, 60-year-old Yolanda Castillo and 77-year-old Alicia Salinas Flores (both from Memphis, Texas) would pass away from injuries sustained in the crash.

Both drivers of the vehicles were taken to local hospitals where they were admitted with serious injuries.
