A Foss man has been arrested for allegedly possessing more than 5 grams of a mixture containing fentanyl.

According to court documents, 31-year-old Miles Leethan Ray was taken into custody on November 9 for allegedly possessing the substance.

The probable cause affidavit states that a Clinton police officer was on routine patrol just before 5 a.m. when two men were observed shining lights under a car at an auto body shop. One of the men identified himself as Ray.

A check with dispatch revealed that both men had active warrants.

While the officer was issuing a citation to the second man, Ray reportedly became visibly agitated. He was detained in hand restraints due to his warrants and subsequently arrested. During transport to the Clinton City Jail, Ray allegedly removed a plastic bag containing a white, crystal-like substance from his boot.

The substance was seized, field-tested, and weighed. The test confirmed the presence of fentanyl, with the bag weighing approximately 18.3 grams.

Ray has been charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance. His next court date is scheduled for December 4.
