Oklahoma Game Wardens are investigating after a horse was shot and killed on private property adjacent to the Black Kettle National Grassland in Roger Mills County last week.

In a social media post, Wardens reported being called to Black Kettle Unit 3, located northwest of Cheyenne, where they found the deceased horse.

Officials say the suspect vehicle is described as a dark SUV, possibly a Jeep Compass, with a tribal tag and a large pink sticker on the rear window.

Anyone who sees the vehicle is urged to contact local authorities.

While this case remains under investigation, Lt. James Edwards reminds the public to always practice safety while hunting and to never shoot from a vehicle.

Rifle deer season in Oklahoma concludes on Sunday, with a holiday antlerless deer gun season beginning on December 18.
