A four semi-truck accident on Interstate 40 west of Hinton on Wednesday has put a California man in the hospital.

According to the collision report provided by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the accident occurred just before 10 a.m. near the 96 mile marker in the westbound lanes – 5 miles west of Hinton.

Troopers said thats when a 2024 Freightliner, a 2020 Volvo Tractor, and a 2000 Freightliner all came to a stop due to traffic beginning to slow down. As a result the 2017 Freightliner that was driven by 50-year-old Guogan Lu of Glendora, California struck two of the stopped semis in the rear and continued to depart the road into the center median.

OHP said Lu was transported to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where he was admitted in stable condition with head and trunk internal injuries.

The drivers of the other three semis were not injured in the crash.
