Little Change in Sales Tax Collections

The latest sales tax numbers have been released and most western Oklahoma communities saw little to no change when compared to the same time a year ago.

The latest numbers reflect sales tax intake from the month of October.

Starting with the three largest cities in the area, the City of Elk City saw a 0.4% increase by collecting $1,260,643.42. The City of Weatherford was down 0.8% however still over the $1 million mark by bringing in $1,062,450.40. The City of Clinton collected $519,509.14, a 3.4% decrease when compared to 2022.

By comparison, the City of Altus was up 0.2% with an intake of $1,109,971.03 of sales tax dollars and Woodward saw a decrease by bringing in $1,073,665.08 – a 2.4% decrease.

Smaller communities in the area had Sayre down 13% ($141,408.66), Mangum down 6.8% ($41,834.93), Hobart down just 0.6% ($127,476.96) and Cordell down 3.4% ($93,344.40).

The state as a whole was down 1% by collecting $228,929,303.32 in the month of October.

OSBI Investigating Double Homicide in Granite

Granite, OK – On Sunday night, the District 3 Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force requested the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) to investigate a double homicide. Shortly after 10:00 p.m., deputies responded to a residence
