Seventeen FFA chapters across Oklahoma will benefit from over $36,000 in American Electric Power (AEP) Foundation FFA STEM After-School Grants this year. The AEP Foundation, the charitable branch of American Electric Power and parent company of Tulsa-based Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO), is funding a diverse array of agricultural studies through these grants.

Among the recipients are the Burns Flats-Dill City, Carnegie, and Mountain View – Gotebo FFA chapters, which will receive grants ranging from $700 to $2,500. These grants will support various STEM-based projects, including advancements in vet science, laser technology, and greenhouse and watering systems. Each project was developed by FFA students and their advisors to enhance hands-on learning experiences.

The grants will be presented at five regional FFA Chapter Officer Leadership Training (COLT) conferences, sponsored by PSO, starting August 27 in McAlester.

PSO is thrilled to support hands-on STEM activities in Oklahoma schools through these grants,” said PSO Vice President of External Affairs Tiffini Jackson. “These collaborative efforts foster creativity and innovation, building a strong foundation for our students and the future of Oklahoma.”

Since 2018, the AEP Foundation and PSO have awarded over $245,000 to FFA chapters, advancing agricultural education and inspiring success. In 2020, the AEP Foundation committed an additional $200,000 to sustain the program through the 2024-2025 school year.

This grant program highlights the strong partnership between PSO, the AEP Foundation, and the Oklahoma FFA Foundation in promoting STEM education and providing valuable learning opportunities for students.

After-school STEM grants ensure Oklahoma students gain essential skills and knowledge,” said Jacey Fye, executive director of the Oklahoma FFA Foundation. “We appreciate PSO and the AEP Foundation’s ongoing support for FFA and STEM education.”
