Local Sheriff Warns of Scam

Local authorities are warning the public of a new scam that has been circulating around in the area.

Beckham County Sherriff Derek Manning says he’s been made aware of a scam where fake bills are being sent to unsuspecting residents from the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority.

They look very officials with their logos and officials seals, however the email attached to the notice is not an official state agency email.”

Most bills from the Turnpike Authority are issued via mail. Sheriff Manning says if someone receives anything suspicious, to simply inquire about the bill by calling the Turnpike Authority directly.
