Today marks the 28th anniversary of one of Oklahoma’s darkest days.

The bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City.

Two lawmakers from Oklahoma reflected today on that day in 1995 that no Oklahoman will ever forget.

Congressman Frank Lucas (OK-03) of Cheyenne recently sat down for a podcast interview with Kari Watkins, President & CEO of the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum, and spoke about his memories of that tragic day. Lucas, at the time, was officed in downtown Oklahoma City, however was in Dallas during the bombing. He said as soon as he heard about the attack, he got back to Oklahoma City and made his way to ground zero, a walkable distance from his office.

Senator James Lankford (R-OK) spoke on the Senate floor in Washington D.C. in remembrance of the victims and their families affected by the bombing.

The Senate would hold a moment of silence for 168 seconds to honor the 168 lives lost that day.
