A Weatherford man was arrested earlier this month after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.

During the incident, the victim told police that the man also allegedly choked her in front of their 1-year-old daughter.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Weatherford police were dispatched to an apartment complex on the afternoon of December 9 after receiving a 911 call from one of the residents.

When they arrived they would find the female victim where she would tell them that her and her boyfriend, later identified as being 22-year-old Amick James Henry Sleeper would get into an argument. During the incident Sleeper allegedly attempted to lock the woman out of the apartment they had shared. The woman was able to gain entry but said while doing so Sleeper allegedly slammed the door into the woman’s leg.

While inside, the woman told police that Sleeper allegedly would grab a knife and threaten to throw it at her, even though their 5-month old son was laying between them on a nearby couch. She said he also allegedly kicked her legs, hit her with an open hand, and shoved her down with two open hands.

She said the defendant would also allegedly put her in a headlock and began to choke her from behind. She said he would later get on top of the woman on a bed and began to choke her with both hands while their daughter was also on the bed.

Sleeper was arrested without incident on the scene and ultimately booked into the Custer County Jail.

He was charged with domestic assault and battery by strangulation and domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
