A jailer from Mangum employed by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is accused of sexually battering a female inmate, in what court documents describe as a consensual but physical relationship.

Officials with the sheriff’s office said the man has since resigned.

55-year-old Michael C. Zecca was charged last week with one count of sexual battery and one count of bringing contraband into the jail after an investigation into the alleged crimes was conducted by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the OSBI was tasked with looking into the case, and during their investigation they say the inmate admitted to having a relationship with the jailer since June, in which she admitted that the relationship turned physical. The inmate also told investigators that Zecca allegedly provided her with contraband during the relationship.

The court document stated that Zecca allegedly admitted to provided the contraband to the inmate.

Court records show Zecca was arrested on Saturday, and a bond was set at $25,000.

If convicted, he faces up to 15 years behind bars plus fines.
