Early Voting for the November 8 general election begins Wednesday.

Local election officials say early voting is a great option for those who will be out of town on Election Day or who want to avoid long lines. You don’t need to provide an excuse to vote early. Oklahoma allows early voting for all elections conducted by County Election Boards or the State Election Board, from school board and municipal elections to state and federal elections.

The upcoming midterms features many hotly contested races including those for governor and for superintendent of public instruction. Also on the ballot are both Oklahoma U.S. Senate seats and the race for lieutenant governor.

Current governor, Republican Kevin Stitt, will be facing off against Democratic challenger Joy Hofmeister, Libertarian challenger Natalie Bruno and Independent challenger Ervin Stone Yen.

For the office of lieutenant governor, incumbent Republican Matt Pinnell will face Libertarian Chris Powell and Democrat Melinda L. Alizadeh-Fard. For the office of attorney general, Libertarian Lynda Steele will oppose Republican Gentner Drummond.

For the office of the state treasurer, Republican Todd Russ, Democrat Charles De Coune and Libertarian Gregory J. Sadler will all be vying for the seat. Republican Ryan Walters will be running against Democrat Jena Nelson for the office of Superintendent of Public Instruction.

For the office of commissioner of labor, Republican Leslie Kathryn Osborn Democrat Jack Henderson and Libertarian Will Daugherty will face off for the seat.

For the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Republican James Lankford, Libertarian Kenneth Blevins, Democrat Madison Horn and Independent Michael Delaney will all be vying for the seat. For Sen. Jim Inhofe’s unexpired seat in the U.S. Senate, Republican Markwayne Mullin, Democrat Kendra Horn, Libertarian Robert Murphy, and Independent Ray Woods are running.

Also on the ballot is the race for Oklahoma United States District 3 Representative in which Republican Frank Lucas and Democrat Jeremiah Ross are running.
