The Oklahoma Opioid Abatement Board has awarded $11 million in grants to help address the state’s opioid crisis. One organization in Western Oklahoma is set to receive some of these funds.

It was announced that the Southwestern Oklahoma Development Authority (SWODA), located in Burns Flat, will receive a portion of the first round of funds; however, the exact amount SWODA will receive has not been disclosed.

SWODA is among 71 cities, counties, school districts, and public trusts that will receive funds to help tackle Oklahoma’s opioid crisis.

Attorney General Gentner Drummond stated that these grants represent the board’s initial distribution. Additionally, 31 applicants were invited to resubmit applications that were either incomplete or did not meet approved purposes.

Local applicants invited to resubmit include multi-county coalitions such as Beckham County, Caddo County, Custer County, and Greer County.
