Several students are getting real-world exposure to real-world aviation maintenance.

Premium Aerospace Center (PAC) Oklahoma, with the help of Western Technology Center, is providing a General Familiarization aviation course for new industry employees between October 13 and October 31.

This training program is essential for aviation professionals to gain knowledge about the structure, systems, and components of an aircraft, enabling them to perform maintenance, repairs, inspections, and troubleshooting effectively,” said course instructor Sam Habash.

PAC is providing the students, plus the equipment, tooling, materials, and aircraft required for the course’s hands-on training.

WTC is providing the facility, technology, and support for course delivery.

This will be a hybrid course, meaning some instruction will be in-person at WTC, and some content will be taught remotely using broadcast technology.

PAC is fortunate to have helpful state and local partners.

Eddie Compton from the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education helped secure course funding, and Patrick Clanin from Oklahoma CareerTech also helped make this class possible.

Danny Britton and Kevin Intemann from WTC were also instrumental in arranging this vital training course for us, for which we’re grateful,” said PAC Director Jose Gonzalez.

Officially, the course is Airbus A320 Family Systems Training, named for the kind of aircraft that the students will learn how to maintain.

The Airbus A320 is a family of narrow-body, twin-engine commercial aircraft developed by Airbus, a European aerospace manufacturer,” Habash said. “It’s one of the most popular and widely used aircraft families in the world.”

This course gives students exposure to real-world commercial aviation aircraft and their required maintenance. Because aviation maintenance schools’ curricula are often outdated, students don’t usually receive this kind of up-to-date training.
