Public Service Company of Oklahoma announced recently a $25,000 grant from the AEP Foundation to the General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum in Hobart. The AEP Foundation is the charitable arm of AEP and is partially funded by PSO.
The grant will support Four Star Leadership with General Tommy Franks. The program annually offers 70 top high school students free summer leadership training. The students meet national and international dignitaries and resolve ethical and leadership challenges in written and spoken presentations.
PSO Vice President for External Affairs Tiffini Jackson said the grant is a good fit with the company’s support of education.
“These programs are an investment in our nation’s future,” Jackson said. “We’re proud of General Franks, a native Oklahoman. The grant will spread his important legacy and bring vital lessons in leadership and citizenship to the next generation.”
D’Lese Travis, executive director of the museum and institute, said:
“General Franks and his wife Cathy believe that our nation was founded upon the principles of leadership, equality and opportunity. We deeply appreciate the generous donation that the American Electric Power Foundation has invested in this program. Without like-minded individuals and supporters like the AEP Foundation, we could not provide this valuable, character-building program for our future leaders.”
