The Salvation Army’s latest Red Kettle campaign proved to be successful once again in western Oklahoma.

Announced recently in a press release, the Salvation Army, serving Beckham, Roger Mills, Washita, and Custer Counties said the program raised just over $19,400 during the holiday season. Officials said residents of Elk City and Weatherford generously contributed to the campaign, which benefits those in need in the community during the Christmas season and year-round.

The Army attributes campaign’s ongoing success, which began in 1891, to the continued support of retailers who invited the Red Kettle bell ringers to their front doors, volunteers who generously gave their time and the overall generosity of the communities.

Cindy Abney, the Army’s Case Manager for the region said in the press release that volunteers provided over 270 hours to help local communities.

She also said that if you or anyone you may know needs assistance from the Salvation Army, to contact her. She said that there is an application process and guidelines with one must meet.

She concluded by saying if anyone would like to donate to the Salvation Army or get on the list to volunteer for the 2022 Red Kettle Season to contact the Salvation Army at their Elk City office at 580-225-5500.
