SWOSU Press Release

Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) celebrated Homecoming this past weekend on Saturday, Oct. 7, with the crowning of Homecoming King and Queen during halftime at the SWOSU vs. Arkansas Tech football game.

Jessica Findley, a Marketing major from Hinton, OK, and president of the Student Government Association (SGA), was crowned SWOSU Homecoming Queen. Cache Anglin, a Pharmacy major from Blanchard, OK, earned the title of Homecoming King. Findley’s sponsorship came from the SGA, while Anglin was sponsored by the SWOSU College of Pharmacy.

Both Findley and Anglin, alongside other finalists, underwent interviews with a panel consisting of students, faculty, and administrators before their coronation as Queen and King.

It is such a humbling honor to be crowned as the 2023 Homecoming Queen of Southwestern,” said Jessica Findley. “This hilltop has become my home, and the student body, faculty, and administrators have become family! Thank you SWOSU, Weatherford, my hometown, my family, and friends for supporting me while I have lived the dream! Go Dawgs forever!”

At the Homecoming parade, SWOSU’s Phi Delta Theta, Sigma Phi Lambda, and Zeta Phi placed first and won $1,500 in the float competition. The Oklahoma Cinderella Scholarship Program secured second place, earning $1,000, while Sigma Sigma Chi and Tau Kappa Epsilon placed third and won $700. Floats were evaluated based on originality, design, and quality of construction, mechanics, and application of the homecoming theme, “Paint the Town Blue.”

SWOSU would like to congratulate the 2023 Homecoming King and Queen as well as the float prize winners. The university also expresses its sincere gratitude to those who contributed to Homecoming, including the contestants, float participants, volunteers, and supportive community members.
