SWOSU Foundation Press Release
Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) with locations in Weatherford, Sayre, and Yukon has announced that its two longtime charitable auxiliaries, the Southwestern Pharmacy Alumni Foundation, Inc. and the SWOSU Foundation, Inc., have reached a historic new agreement with the objective of benefiting the SWOSU College of Pharmacy through increased alumni and friends engagement efforts and expanded fundraising activities.
The agreement was adopted by the governing Boards of the two foundations in late 2022 and was executed by Board leaders during a recent meeting on SWOSU’s Weatherford campus.
“SWOSU is so fortunate to benefit from two prudent, engaged independent charitable entities in our Pharmacy Foundation and in the SWOSU Foundation,” said SWOSU President Dr. Diana R. “Diane” Lovell. “I commend the Boards of the two foundations on coming to this new agreement that will maximize resources, focus efforts, and boost philanthropic activities and opportunities for the benefit of our prestigious College of Pharmacy.”
Under the new agreement, the two foundations will remain separate entities undertaking their existing activities while also coordinating closely on the cultivation of major gifts, endowments, and planned gifts for the benefit of the SWOSU College of Pharmacy. The agreement enables the charities to better share resources and work together to keep SWOSU Pharmacy alumni and friends connected to the university.
“The SWOSU College of Pharmacy is so grateful to our alumni and friends who stay involved with the mission of our programs,” said SWOSU College of Pharmacy Dean Dr. Les Ramos. “We are excited to offer increased philanthropic opportunities to the SWOSU Pharmacy community thanks to this new partnership between two organizations with excellent records as stewards and administrators of charitable gifts to SWOSU.”
The Southwestern Pharmacy Alumni Foundation was incorporated in 1974 for the overall purpose of supporting the educational endeavors of the SWOSU College of Pharmacy. The SWOSU Foundation was incorporated in 1977 to solicit, steward, and disburse private funds for the benefit of SWOSU (including the College of Pharmacy). Both entities currently manage funds for the benefit of SWOSU’s Pharmacy programs, students, and faculty.
