A Wagoner man was arrested and charged in Custer County recently after allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend.
The man is also accused of throwing a knife at the woman during the incident.
According to the probable cause affidavit, 23-year-old Darius Latrail Riggs was arrested on the evening of December 4, after Weatherford police were dispatched to a domestic disturbance that had taken place in a home in the 500 block of North Kansas. When police arrived they found the defendant at the scene and were able to talk to him, regarding the incident. He would tell police that he and the victim had gotten into a dispute but nothing physical had taken place.
After allowing police into the home, they would find a table had flipped over. The defendant would tell police that he overturned the table out of anger.
The victim would tell police that Riggs had allegedly punched her ribs and had struck her midsection with his knee. She claimed that the defendant also allegedly pushed her by her throat against the well, and later would throw a knife at the woman which struck a wall and break into two pieces.
The affidavit would note that the victim appeared to have red marks on her side and on her neck.
When asked about the apparent injuries to the woman, Riggs would claim that she was trying to set him up.
The woman was eventually transported to Weatherford Regional Hospital to be treated for her injuries.
Riggs was placed under arrested and transported to the Weatherford Jail. He was eventually transferred to the Custer County Jail and charged with one felony count of domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and one count of domestic abuse.
A preliminary hearing for Riggs has been scheduled for January 14.
