Sept. 23, 2024

On Tuesday, September 10, the 100th Judicial District Court in Childress County saw one contested hearing and 11 plea agreements. District Attorney Luke Inman and Assistant District Attorney Harley Caudle prosecuted the cases for the State of Texas, with Judge Stuart Messer presiding over the proceedings.

Kerry Molina, 34, of Wellington, Texas, received two four-year probation sentences for separate third-degree felony offenses. The first offense, prohibited substance in a correctional facility, occurred on June 7, 2024. Molina, arrested by Collingsworth County Sheriff Kent Riley, pleaded guilty to an information filed by the State on July 18. In addition to probation, Molina was ordered to pay a $4,000 fine, $450 in attorney fees, $376 in court costs, $180 in restitution, and complete 200 hours of community service. Should Molina’s probation be revoked, he could face up to 10 years in prison.

Molina’s second probation sentence stems from an injury to a child offense, also occurring on June 7, 2024. He pleaded guilty on August 7. Along with probation, Molina was ordered to pay $450 in attorney fees and $376 in court costs. If this probation is revoked, Molina again faces a potential 10-year prison term.

The hearings were part of a broader session in which multiple cases were resolved through plea agreements.
