Cummins in the Hunt Again on the Korn Ferry Tour

The Skinny on Sports Report on 96.5FM KECO

Wford’s Quade Cummins has positioned himself well heading into the weekend on the Korn Ferry Tour. Cummins fired an impressive second-round 5 under 66 this morning, bringing his two-round total to 7 under par. As of the morning wave’s completion, he is tied for 4th place. The afternoon wave still has their second round to finish.

Cummins showcased his skills at The Club at Indian Creek in Omaha, NE, with 7 birdies and only two bogeys in his second round. This performance puts him on the brink of securing a PGA Tour Card for next season. Should this result hold, Cummins is expected to move up to 8th on the season-long points list. As of now, the top 7 players have already secured their PGA Tour cards. We are hopeful that by Monday, we’ll be reporting that Quade Cummins is officially #TourBound.

Jerry Jones Shows No Urgency for CD Lamb Extension

The drama surrounding the Dallas Cowboys offseason continues, with the latest twist coming directly from the owner, Jerry Jones. After a disappointing playoff loss to the Green Bay Packers in January, Jones claimed that his Cowboys would be “All-In” during the offseason to prepare for the upcoming season. However, this doesn’t seem to be the case.

Yesterday, Jones was questioned about the ongoing contract negotiations with star wide receiver CD Lamb, who has held out of training camp from the beginning. Jones responded with, “There is no urgency to get a deal done.” Lamb’s immediate reaction on social media was a simple “LOL,” highlighting the ongoing tensions. This is just another bump in the road for the Soap Opera that is the Dallas Cowboys.

Thunder Apparently Snubbed for Christmas Day Slot

Early reports suggest that the OK City Thunder will not be among the 10 teams to play on Christmas Day, a prestigious slot in the NBA calendar. It appears that the small-market slot has been given to Victor Wembenyama and the Spurs instead.

Though the schedule hasn’t been officially released, reports indicate the five games will be: San Antonio @ the Knicks, Minnesota @ Dallas, Sixers @ Celtics (the defending champions), Lebron’s Lakers @ Steph’s Warriors, and Nuggets @ Suns. The OK City Thunder had a streak of nine consecutive Christmas Day appearances from 2010 through 2018, winning six of those games. They haven’t been back since 2018.
