Elk City Elks Bounce Back with a Victory Over Altus
he Elk City Elks secured their first win of the 2024 football season on the road with a strong 28-14 victory over the Altus Bulldogs. Despite falling behind early, the Elks’ defense stepped up and held Altus scoreless after their initial two drives. Tucker Garza was the standout player, rushing for 165 yards and two touchdowns, and also contributing on defense with an interception.
The Elks dominated the game with 281 rushing yards on 53 carries and won the turnover battle by forcing four Altus turnovers. Elk City evens their record at 1-1, while Altus falls to 0-2. After a bye week, the Elks will face Joshua, TX, in Burkburnett on September 20th to wrap up their non-district schedule.

QB Alan Bowman threw for 326 yards with a touchdown and an interception, while Ollie Gordon scored the winning TD in the second OT. OSU was outgained by Arkansas but held on for the win. - Oklahoma narrowly avoided disaster against Houston, holding on for a 16-12 victory. OU didn’t score an offensive point in the second half, but their defense stepped up in the final moments. The Sooners were outgained by the Cougars, and they’ll face a tougher challenge this week with Tulane coming to Norman.
