Elk City Elkettes Dominate District 4A-1

The Elk City Elkettes continued their undefeated streak in high school softball, delivering a commanding performance in a crucial district contest. Elk City secured an 11-1 victory over Woodward, taking the lead in District 4A-1. Despite Woodward scoring first, the Elkettes quickly responded with a run in the home half of the first inning and then exploded with a seven-run second inning.

Standout Performances Lead to Victory

Aubrie Pogue shined on the mound, pitching five innings, giving up just one run on seven hits, with no walks and seven strikeouts. The Elkettes’ offense was equally impressive, with 13 hits that generated their 11 runs. Ella Sottile and Pogue each contributed three hits, while Blakely Ball, Lu Wyatt, and Claire Edwards added two hits apiece. Sottile also drove in three runs with a double and a home run.

District 4A-1 Standings and Upcoming Games

With this win, the Elkettes hold an early lead in District 4A-1 with a 2-0 record. Woodward, Kingfisher, and Bethany are tied for second place with 2-1 records. Clinton is currently at the bottom of the standings with an 0-3 record.

Fall Sports Rankings Released

The first round of fall sports rankings were released yesterday. In Class A fast pitch softball, Arapaho-Butler ranks 4th, Navajo 5th, and Canute 16th. In Class B, Leedey-Sweetwater ranks 6th, Fort Cobb-Broxton 9th, and Arnett 12th. On the fall baseball diamond, Arapaho-Butler ranks 5th, Canute 8th, and Navajo 10th in Class A. In Class B, Calumet is 1st, Fort Cobb-Broxton 2nd, and Sentinel 4th.
