Elk City Elks Face Off Against Canadian Wildcats

The Elk City Elks kicked off their football season last night in a thrilling game against the Canadian Wildcats. These two teams, having met for the third consecutive year, were well-matched, with each team securing one victory in their previous encounters. This year’s opener did not disappoint, delivering an intense showdown that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

Canadian Wildcats Take Early Lead

Canadian’s high-powered offense came out strong, jumping to an early 13-0 lead. However, the Elks quickly responded, getting on the board with a massive touchdown by Tucker Garza, bringing the score to 13-8. The teams continued to trade scores in a back-and-forth battle, with Canadian leading 26-14 at halftime.

Elks Close the Gap in the Third Quarter

After receiving the third-quarter kickoff, the Elks marched down the field with determination. The drive was capped by a quarterback sneak from Logan Webb, pulling Elk City within six points, 26-20, midway through the third quarter. Canadian quickly answered, extending their lead to 32-20 as the fourth quarter began.

Final Push Falls Short for the Elks

Early in the fourth quarter, the Elks made it a one-score game with a clutch 4th-down play, narrowing the gap to 32-27. Despite having multiple opportunities to take the lead, the Elks were unable to break through Canadian’s stout defense in the red zone. The Wildcats held on for a 32-27 victory.

Canadian’s quarterback, Clay Kendall, threw for 250 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions. On the other side, Elk City quarterback Logan Webb also put up impressive numbers, passing for 230 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
