The district races are in full swing on the fast-pitch softball diamond, with multiple classifications seeing tight standings. In Class 4A District 1, the top 5 teams are separated by just two losses, making every game crucial as the season moves forward.

Elk City Elkettes Dominate Clinton on Senior Night

The Elk City Elkettes celebrated Senior Night in style, defeating their I-40 rival, the Clinton Lady Reds, 8-1.

  • Aubrie Pogue was unstoppable in the circle, pitching all 7 innings, giving up only 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 18 batters and issuing no walks.
  • Brenyn Ball led Elk City at the plate, going 4-for-4 with 3 RBIs.
  • Regan Hulin contributed with a 3-for-3 performance and 2 RBIs.
  • Jacee Baker and Aubrie Pogue also chipped in with a pair of hits each.

District 4A-1 Standings Update

As the competition tightens, here’s where the teams stand:

  • Weatherford leads the pack with an 8-1 record, having avenged their only loss with a 4-2 win against Kingfisher.
  • Elk City is close behind at 5-2.
  • Bethany follows with a 5-3 mark.
  • Woodward and Kingfisher are tied at 4-3.
  • Clinton and Mt. St. Mary remain winless at 0-7.

Merritt and Mangum Continue to Shine in 2A District Play

  • Mangum blew away Duke 14-0 in a non-district game and continues to lead District 1 with a 5-0 record.
  • Merritt edged Arnett 3-1 and holds second place with a 2-1 mark.
  • Hinton blanked Shattuck 2-0 in District 2, maintaining their lead with a 4-0 record.

Small School Fast-Pitch Action

Several small schools also saw action on the fast-pitch diamond:

  • Arapaho-Butler shut out Cheyenne 6-0.
  • Leedey defeated Canute 9-1.
  • Hollis blanked Sentinel 8-0.
  • Navajo clipped Sterling 5-3.

Fall Baseball Action Heats Up

In fall baseball, several teams put up strong performances:

  • Canute smoked Arapaho-Butler 13-2.
  • Calumet topped Sentinel 9-1.
  • Navajo overwhelmed C-R 10-2.
  • Hammon shut out Arnett 12-0.
