The Elk City Elkettes bounced back from a tough week in district play with a hard-fought victory on the road. Elk City found themselves behind 2-1 after three innings but managed to tie the game in the 4th inning, then took control in the 5th inning with three runs, eventually securing a 6-4 district win over Woodward.
Standout Performances in Elk City’s Win
- Aubrie Pogue earned the win from the pitcher’s circle, striking out 11 hitters while giving up 4 runs on 9 hits.
- Ella Sottile had a stellar game, going 4-for-4 at the plate.
- Blakely Ball went 3-for-4, while Claire Edwards and Jacee Baker each collected two hits.
- Jera Moler led the team with two RBIs.
Woodward’s Lexi Mendell was 2-for-4 with three RBIs in the losing effort.
District 4A Standings Update
- Weatherford continues to lead the district with a 7-1 record, after two wins over Mt. St. Mary (8-1, 12-0).
- Elk City and Kingfisher are tied for second at 4-2.
- Bethany (4-3) and Woodward (4-3) remain in the mix, while Clinton and Mt. St. Mary are winless at 0-6.
Upcoming Games to Watch
- Weatherford hosts Kingfisher tonight, with the Lady Jackets being the only team to beat the Lady Eagles this season.
- Bethany takes on Mt. St. Mary.

Merritt and 2A District Action
In 2A Districts, the Merritt Lady Oilers grabbed two victories over Texoma/Goodwell with scores of 12-2 and 14-1. Mangum currently leads the district with a perfect 5-0 record, followed by Merritt at 2-1. Other district leaders include Hinton in 2A District with an undefeated 4-0 mark and Hobart second at 3-1.
Small School Fastpitch and Baseball Highlights
- Arapaho-Butler blanked Canute 12-0, and Cheyenne hammered Blair 20-0.
- On the baseball side, Arnett edged Fargo-Gage 6-5, while Erick dominated Taloga 12-0 before falling to Sweetwater 5-1.
