The Merritt Oilerettes secured a decisive victory against the Pocola Lady Indians, clinching a 56-48 win in yesterday morning’s game. From the onset, Merritt displayed dominance, establishing a commanding 14-7 lead in the first quarter and maintaining their advantage throughout the match. Adysen Hartman led the charge with an impressive performance, notching 20 points and 7 rebounds. Chloe Stout showcased her shooting prowess with 15 points, including five successful shots from beyond the arc. Marley contributed 10 points, rounding out the trio of double-figure scorers for the Oilerettes. With this win, the Oilerettes advance to the semifinals, where they will face off against Riverside.

Despite a valiant effort, the Oilers found themselves trailing by three points going into the fourth quarter. In the end, Hennessey’s Jael Torres proved too much to handle, leading his team to a hard-fought 59-50 victory over Merritt. Joshua Ligon led the Oilers’ charge with 17 points. Although the season ends with this defeat, Merritt’s commendable performance marks their return to the state tournament after a hiatus since 2017, finishing the season with an impressive 18-10 record.
