HIGH SCHOOL HOOPS RESULTS
The high school basketball regular season is officially over for the paragon sports network after last night’s doubleheader inside the Pioneer Center. It was nip and tuck throughout the girls game between the Elkettes and Altus Lady Bulldogs. Both teams made runs throughout. Ultimately it was a 7-0 Altus with under two minutes left that proved the difference in a 58-55 win over the Elkettes. Altus’ Madie Whitaker led all scorers with 22. Luci O’Hara and Ella Sottile led the Brown and White with 15 and 14 respectively. Elk City wraps the regular season 16-7. Altus finishes up 11-13. The boys game was an exact reversal of the first game between the two. Back in January the Big Elks overcame a halftime deficit to earn their second win of the season. Last night it was the Bulldogs who stormed back in the second half to beat the Elks 51-41. Krew Keyes had a career high 20 in the loss for Elk City. The Big Elks finish the regular season 2-19. Elk City will host Woodward on Friday night inside the Pioneer Center for the district title.
Both Leedey teams were forced to finish their district tournaments last night after Saturday’s winter weather issues. The Lady Bison trounced Kremlin-Hillsdale 59-19. The Bison pounded Kremiln-HIllsdale 61-29.
COLLEGE HOOPS TONIGHT
The Oklahoma Sooners will try to snap a four game losing streak tonight on the road in the SEC. It won’t be easy for OU with a trip to Gainesville to face #2 Florida. The Sooners are coming off a demoralizing loss to LSU on Saturday that saw them blow a 5 point lead with 24 seconds left. Florida’s won 4 straight including a win on the road against #1 Auburn. This would be a monumental win for Oklahoma’s NCAA tournament chances. Most prognostications have OU still in the tournament but not by much. Sooners/Gators will tip in Gainesville tonight at 6.
