Weatherford Girls and Altus Boys Win Big at Elk City Track Meet

Elk City hosted its annual track meet on Friday, April 14, at Big Elk Stadium. The meet brought together some of the top track and field athletes from the surrounding areas. Both the girls and boys teams competed in several events, with Weatherford and Altus taking home the team titles in their respective divisions.

Girls Results

The Weatherford girls team dominated the competition, finishing in first place with a total of 116 points. Kingfisher was close behind in second place with 97 points, and PC West placed third with 87 points. Merritt and Elk City finished in sixth and eighth place, respectively.

Individually, Hali Denton of Altus won the 110m hurdles, with Merritt’s Breegan Barnett coming in second and Elk City’s Ameri Ateberry in third. Khloe Clemence of Woodward won the 3200m run, while Gabby Gilliam from Elk City finished in fifth place. Jordan Hoffman of Weatherford won the 800m run, with Scout Snodgrass of Kingfisher coming in second and Addy Hoffman of Weatherford finishing in third. Payten Fite of Merritt finished in fourth place.

Lily Ray of Weatherford won the 100m dash, with Hobart’s Jayden Murray coming in second and Elk City’s Madison Holladay in third. Bethany’s Keziah Lofton won the 400m dash, with Ashley Helfrich of Weatherford in second and Preslie Taylor of Merritt in third. Breegan Barnett of Merritt won the 300m hurdles. Lily Ray of Weatherford also won the 200m dash. The top three finishers in the 800m run were the same in the 1600m run, with Addy Hoffman winning the 1600m, Scout Snodgrass coming in second, and Jordan Hoffman finishing in third. Breegan Barnett of Merritt finished in second place in the long jump, with Payton Jackson of Elk City in fourth. Lola Hester of Clinton won the discus, and finished in third place in the shot put.

Boys Results

The Altus boys’ team finished in first place with a total of 136 points, followed by Bethany in second place with 95 points, and Elk City in third place with 88 points. Weatherford and Clinton finished in fourth and sixth place, respectively.

Individually, Parker Adams of Clinton finished in third place in the 110m hurdles, with Jeron Seymour of Elk City coming in fifth place. Ethan Banks of Elk City won the 800m run, with Riley Herndon of Merritt finishing in second place. Cooper Patton of Elk City won the 100m dash. Jack Morgan of Elk City finished in second place in the 3200m run. Atticus Thompson of Clinton finished in third place in the 400m dash, with Nick Jett of Weatherford finishing in fourth place. Denzel Emery of Woodward won the 300m hurdles, with Jeron Seymour of Elk City finishing in third place and Parker Adams of Clinton in fourth place. Ethan Banks of Elk City won the 1600m run, with Parker Adams of Clinton finishing in second place. Keythen Kellison from Altus won the high jump, with Luke Peffer of Merritt finishing in second place. Logan Tacker of Hobart won the pole vault, with Cooper Garbarino and Evan Putman of Elk City finishing in second and third place, respectively. Bethany’s Taylor Heim won the long jump, with Taelen Laird of Woodward finishing in second place. The Elk City 4x100m relay team took home the gold.
