White Sox Tie AL Record

The Skinny on Sports Report on 96.5FM KECO

The Chicago White Sox lost last night to the Oakland Athletics 5-1. This loss is particularly notable as it marks the White Sox’s 21st consecutive defeat, tying the 1988 Baltimore Orioles for the longest losing streak in American League history. The White Sox have not secured a victory since the first game of a doubleheader against the Twins on July 10th. The modern record for an MLB losing streak is held by the 1961 Philadelphia Phillies, with 23 consecutive losses. The all-time record dates back to the Cleveland Spiders in 1889, who lost 26 straight games. Tonight, the White Sox will attempt to avoid breaking the AL record against the A’s. Their current season record stands at 27-88, putting them in contention for the worst modern-day record if they finish the season with a 12-35 run.
